Shadowfolk
The Mistfolk are bipedal humanoids capable of changing the transparency of their skin. Native to western Tetra, they're most often referred to as ghouls or spirits by other species.
Physiology
Basics
Mistfolk are similar to humans in size, though they tend to be slightly taller and lankier than the average human. Their most notable difference is their lack of pigmentation and the transparency of their skin. By default, most Mistfolk have translucent skin and connective tissue that allows glimpses of the underlying tissues. However, Mistfolk are able to alter the opacity of their skin at will. Doing so takes several seconds. They're able to reach any opacity between completely opaque and completely translucent. With practice, they can change the opacity of body regions separately from each other.
When their skin is transparent, they have a pale blue-purple coloration in the tissues immediately underneath their skin that's similar to the vegetation color in their native region. When more opaque, their skin is a stark white that blends in well with fog.
